About Ring & Ridge

A small Adirondack shop built around one tree.

Ring & Ridge started with a simple idea: a tree ring print shaped like the Adirondack Park. Not a made-up pattern, but the rings of a tree that actually grew in these mountains.

We found that tree in an 1894 report of the New York Forest Commission, where the stump of a black spruce had been inked and pressed onto paper. The story of the tree tells how it became our print.

How it’s made

We traced every ring from that 1894 page on the computer, kept the tree’s own spacing and quirks, and drew it into the park’s outline. The lettering is painted in a brush script to match. No part of the tree is made up.

Each piece is printed when you order it by Fourthwall, our print partner, who also handles checkout, shipping and any problems with an order. Nothing gets made until someone wants it.

The name

Rings for the tree. Ridge for the mountains it grew in.
